The eight cast metal lanterns are based on authentic Edwardian period designs, aged with a bronze finish yet brought up to date with low energy light sources and fine quality opal acrylic diffusers. The semi-circular canopy light was a major engineering challenge, as the brief demanded a horizontal semi-circle to float weightlessly above the box office area. Restricted by weight and safety issues, the finished luminaire was carefully constructed from glass-effect acrylic and lightweight aluminium.
