To mark the launch of its new Portables range, Chelsom is proud to announce a special collaboration with Ian Mankin, one of the UK’s most respected heritage fabric houses. The partnership brings together two like-minded British brands, united by craftsmanship, design integrity, and a well aligned heritage rooted in the Northwest of England.
The collaboration is Bowland, a portable lamp design, where Chelsom’s expertise in decorative lighting meets Ian Mankin’s renowned textile design. The result is a collection that elevates portable lighting into something truly distinctive and design-led.
At the heart of the Bowland range are loosely pleated fabric shades, created using Ian Mankin’s Indigo and Peony Lining Stripe fabrics. These materials, traditionally used as upholstery linings, are rarely seen in lampshade applications, making their use here both unique and highly impactful. The introduction of these fabrics brings a new layer of depth, texture, and softness to the lamps, enhancing their decorative appeal and creating a richer, more atmospheric light.
The colourways have been carefully selected to complement Chelsom’s signature metal finishes, including Aged Brass and Oil Rubbed Bronze.
